Ok look, I do NOT recommend doing this. Against my better judgment, I turned on the news the other day and soaked it in.
Within two minutes — JUST TWO MINUTES! — I was overwhelmed with all the doom and gloom…
And I could see why society is curled up in a ball and begging for mercy.
Market conditions are rocky…
The presidential election is looming…
Interest rates are sky-high…
AI is changing the business landscape, for better or worse…
There are two wars going on… and we seem to be on the brink of yet another world war.
It’s no wonder the C-suite has tucked its tail and turned inward. They have cut back on spending, freezed hiring, eliminated critical vendors… all in an effort to “weather the storm.”
But what if I told you this response is dead-wrong? This isn’t a storm to be weathered. Not even close.
It’s a storm to boldly step into. This is precisely where the glory is found. While others batten down the hatches, you can — you MUST — lean in and face the beast head-on to come out ahead.
And if you lean in NOW, you stand to come out ahead by a long shot.
OK — what exactly do I mean here?
To be positioned for success in Q1, you need to invest where it matters most: SALES. Sales is the front lines of your business where your company gains ground on your enemy competitors. Just like in real battle, if you curl up in the fetal position when times are tough, the enemy will surround you and devour you.
You have to FIGHT for success and make smart investments where it matters most: in building key relationships.
Timing is Everything
Now is the time. Not tomorrow. Not next week or next month. TODAY is the day to map out your strategy, tactics, and get to work executing your plan.
Trust me on this — Q1 results are always the product of Q4 efforts. That means what you do today will ripple out and impact revenue in the coming months. And I’m not just talking about pipeline here. I’m talking about authentic connections and relationships.
To be top-of-mind for key buyers in 2025, you have to start building those relationships today. You have to do what it takes to become known as a trusted advisor in your industry, and sooner rather than later.
Right now is perfect timing, as your competition is shrinking away from the fight. You can take the territory they so generously relinquish. Just like Warren Buffet says, “Be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful.” Let’s get greedy.
Tip: Buyers of your service will remember you reached out during a challenging time and began to forge that relationship… even when you had nothing to gain.
Overcome Obscurity
Every company is born into obscurity. That’s just a fact of life.
But the sad truth is, most companies remain in obscurity until they eventually go out of business. Very few brands rise to the top and become a household name in their niche. And the reason is simple: they fail at sales, or marketing, or both.
To win at sales and overcome obscurity, you have to take massive action every day. I write about this A LOT. And cold calling is the most effective avenue to success in sales. Period.

Sure, there are a select few that find a way (brute force) to build out a sales team with SDRs, AEs, a sales leadership team, etc. But this isn’t for the faint of heart. If you don’t know what you’re doing, you stand to lose big.
Others get smart and hire it out. They invest in their growth, and when it pays off, they enjoy 10x or more ROI. This is lead generation. But it’s more than lead generation.
